The Front Porch
One of the things that attracted me to my new/old little house was the front porch. I love them.
We are living in a little a town that is not beautiful. It’s more like a mission field.
But we made so many friends and connections from the front porch...
My littles grandkids recently visited and we did a great bit of our interaction on the front porch and patio. Our oldest and youngest daughter visited. Many of our conversations were on the front porch.
We bring hot drinks, cold drinks and slices of apple pie with homemade ice cream to the front porch. It tastes better. We soak up morning devotions and evening reflections on the front porch. It seems to reach the heart better with the sunrise or the moon.
You meet friendly neighbors and curious neighbors sitting on the front porch. The lonely will stop by for a chat and the community dog will even walk through for a visit.
It’s a stress relief when you sink into a porch chair. Handed a cold glass of tea or lemonade, it’s hard to push yourself up to go back out into engaging with life.
What’s some of your reflections on the front porch or the back porch?I’m comforted to know. Some things never change. It’s a feeling. It’s a way of life.
